Title: Tropic Thunder: It was OK.

Blog Entry: Monday, August 18, 2008 Current mood: sneaky I think I actually liked Pineapple Express more. I have to think about it... I went to see it this Sunday after my gym workout. I'm a cheap mofo when it comes to this so I went to the matinee. There were exactly 4 people in the theater with me. We all thought that the minor characters, Downey [Huh! What do you mean "You People?"], and the cameo stars were much better than Stiller and Black. While I want to really hate him, I thought Tom Cruise was a good surprise cameo, followed by Matthew McConaughey. They were both good. Cruise was really good as Les Grossman: "Now take a step back...*and fuck your own face!*" <-- Not bad for an elitist, cultist, so-and-so. The movie itself reminds me of the Making of the Making of Apocalypse Now. That's because there was no Making of Platoon, or Making of Full Metal Jacket. I know, I know: it's supposed to. After all, it does start out with "this is the story of 10 men sent out to get one, of which only four came back and three of them wrote books," etc., and closes with "Tropic Thunder was the making of a fake movie". Oh, and Rebecca De Mornay probably felt something punch her in her nuts when she saw Tom dancing with his shades on. I think we all did: uncomfortable, to say the least... -- Currently watching : National Lampoon's Van Wilder [UMD for PSP] Release date: 2005-06-07
